What do I do when I am out here in Bretagne, at my country house? Nothing. Everything. All of rien.

I couldn’t have a starker contrast between my life in Paris and the one out here. I have so many services, support, and friends just a click, text, or phone call away in the city. It takes me 10 minutes to order groceries for delivery and laundry pick-up at the time of my convenience. I love ordering from my favorite restaurants of all cuisines – Paris is the world’s gastronomic capital. I walk out the door and say hello to my neighbors, meet up with friends for coffee or lunch on a Parisian terrace. I’m in the thick of it.

That is not good. It is not bad. It is life in a big city like Paris.

In Bretagne, it takes me 3 hours to drive to the grocery, gas up the car, go shopping, pick up my dry cleaning, go to the pharmacy, and return home to put it all away. Plus, I have to ensure the girls are fed, watered, pottied, and exercised before our errands. I rarely eat out unless my husband is here, and nobody but Amazon and La Poste delivers to this remote location. Instead, I use my barbeque almost daily, with fresh fish caught just hours prior. I walk out my door and say hello (to no one) to the birds and am greeted with fresh air, fields, and a gorgeous horizon (something I forget about and greatly miss when I am in the city). I am in the thick of it.

That is not good. It is not bad. It is life in the countryside of France.

As promised, here is our beach walk after @mollyjwilk, and I went to the vide grenier (antiques and garage sale) yesterday. I am already missing her presence in Bretagne!

What’s up next? In two weeks, I leave this countryside for another: Normandie. I’ll be living there for a month, near Honfleur, and sharing my experiences with you. So, stay tuned for that!

For now, bisous and big hugs from Brittany, France,
Mme Pratuch 😉😉
