VIDEO How-To Tuesday – Mail a Card from a French Post Office

My father used to check the mailbox 📬religiously every day, and when there was nothing from the post, he would claim, “No mail is good mail!” While no one likes to receive bills (or another request for documentation from the prefecture😆), I 100% love to receive a notecard. The handwritten address on the front means there is something good inside. And it is that little bit of extra effort that always means so much to me. My friend or family member had to pick out the right card, take the time to sit down and write a sentiment, 💝and then the act of mailing it off. These are the things I envision right away whenever I snatch a card out of my mailbox.

For How-To Tuesday, I help you brighten someone’s day by sharing how you can easily navigate the French post office. I promise you do not have to talk to anyone! 🙃The whole system is automated, and, yes, while the machine is in French, you can follow my video + the icons to navigate this experience. It takes five minutes, and now you have made someone’s day very special indeed! A card from France is the perfect, inexpensive gift. 💌

In brief, you can also copy and paste these steps to help you along the way:

1. Choose “lettre”.

2. Put your card on the top of the machine.

3. Choose your destination country.

4. Verify that you are not shipping electronics.

5. Choose the cheapest option for payment.

6. Press the blue button to move on to the payment screen.

7. Choose the icon that matches your payment preference – coin or card.

8. The last screen asks if you want a receipt. Choose any option; it does not matter.

The machine prints your stamp and gives you any change.

9. Place the stamp in the upper right corner of the envelope.

10. And put the letter I n the “international” slot of the nearest mailbox. They are sometimes located outside, near the front door.

Happy mailing!!

Bisous and big hugs 🤗 from France,
Shannon
