The spaces and places in Paris that give me the most joy are:
1. A beautiful garden or courtyard
2. A lovely restaurant with excellent service and a calming environment
3. Bookstores and libraries
4. Museums, especially if they have Impressionist exhibits
5. Being near water
Below are my favorite romantic gardens in Paris. I use the numbered list above as a key, so if those spaces inspire you too, you’ll know what each jardin offers.
° Palais Royale (1, 2, 5)
° Jardin du Luxembourg (1, 2, 4, 5)
° Musée Rodin (1, 3, 4)
° Musée Jacquemart André (1, 2, 3, 4)
° Musée Carnavalet (1, 3, 4)
Living in Paris can feel like I’ve stepped into some of my favorite period books & movies, such as Far From the Madding Crowd, Pride & Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Sense & Sensibility, and Emma.
The soft stone beige walls of the Parisian mansions still whisper of a time when horse-drawn carriages delivered guests in stunning gowns and parties were lit by candlelight. Behind gates and enormous wooden doors, there lies in Paris hidden courtyards full of roses, box hedges, and granite benches to pass the time while reading a book.
I amplify this feeling by wearing something unique and elegant when I visit these places, evoking the emotion or sentiment of passing through these spaces in another era.
👉👉 I believe it is easier to find peace, calm, and slowness when you elegantly move through the day – whatever that may mean to you.
For me, a few ways I like to bring elegance into my day includes:
° Wearing a lovely piece of clothing that brings me happiness,
° Being present and mindful,
° Looking for the opportunity to give joy to others,
° & having ample space and time to move through my day.
What does elegance mean to you? And what are some of your favorite romantic period movies?
Bisous from Paris, darlings,
