Do you embrace change? I recently chatted with a girlfriend about some of the challenges I have been experiencing in France (post on this topic coming soon). I liken this process to a Rubik’s cube – picking up the game, turning it over, analyzing, and looking at the challenge from different angles. And asking myself, am I still on the right path? Or am I stuck in an old story I am telling myself? How can I do this differently?

Change can be scary. It can be difficult, isolating, constraining, sad, or frustrating.

𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗽 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.

Before I moved to France, I was stuck in an old story. I built a successful PR & marketing agency from the corner cushion of our living room leather couch. And one day, we moved that couch into the lounge area of my brick-and-mortar office, where I proudly had a team on payroll. We all worked hard, won awards, and earned high-profile clients.

But when my passion for France created a dissonance so profound that it became impossible to ignore, I had to dig deep to uncover the story I was still clinging to – and fight the ego and habitual identity I had created for myself in the process.

We look in the mirror every day and expect change – sometimes big, other times it’s so tiny that we don’t see it at first. Physically, we change significantly from eight months to eight, eighteen to 80 years of age. But some of us remain mentally stuck, never giving ourselves the grace to change inside as well.

“𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗽 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴.” – Lao Tzu

I believe that within us, we all have the strength to learn, plan, begin, and build whatever our hearts are dreaming of. What will you curate next?

Bisous from Bretagne,
Shannon
