Day TWELVE and I take you through Place de la Bastille (watch in full iGTV mode to see the top of Colonne de Juillet). It’s early this Sunday evening as the last bit of daylight falls and we were all treated to a rather warm afternoon (51 f / 10.5 c).
The monument is lit up in the most stunning blue color at night and there is a winter wonderland of fresh pine trees, holiday decor, and a carousel for the children.
The Colonne de Juillet (July Column) commemorates the Revolution of 1830 and celebrates the Trois Glorieuses – the « three glorious » days of 27-29 July 1830 that saw the fall of King Charles X of France.
