Does it feel like this year is going by super fast…

Does it feel like this year is going by super fast to you, or is it just me?! 😂 I tell others that it still wouldn’t be enough if I had ten lifetimes here in France. So, I would really appreciate it if things would slow down JUST a hair since I only have the rest of this one here. 🤣🤣😅

I am already mentally shifting hard into my summer plans, 🌞 which are just around the corner! Mid-June, I will be escaping the impending triple-digit heatwaves of Paris 🥵 and will take you out to my countryside house near the beaches 🌊 🏖 of Côtes d’Armor (department 22).

Do you know how the “departments” work in France? Think of them a bit like states in the US. Each one has a name, and you can move between them freely. There are ninety-six departments in metropolitan France, and five are overseas departments.

The departments are numbered: their two-digit numbers appear in postal codes and on vehicle number plates. For example, Paris is in department 75. That is why all the zip codes in the city start with 75. I am in the 4th arrondissement. Therefore my zip code is 75004.

The departments are further divided into communes, governed by municipal councils. As of 2013, there were 36,681 communes in France. Each department has a coat of arms and is part of a region, such as Brittany, Burgundy, or Provence. 🇫🇷 There you have it! Random French factoids of the day. 🤣

TODAY’S SWIPE 👉 & SAVE 👇 : So many of you have shared that you aren’t quite ready to make the trip to France YET, even if they re-open to tourism this summer. So, this list is for YOU! In “normal times,” there are some fantastic spring festivals 🥳 throughout France. Swipe 👉 through to find an event that interests you, and then save 👇 for your travels next year!

Bisous and big hugs 🤗 from France,
