Day 21: Images from Colmar, France.

The temp is about 22 degrees f (-5.5 c) right now with a hard freeze expected tonight. We bundled up and jumped onto the 30-minute regional train to Colmar today. At first, the walk into this village was rather easy but unimpressive.

Wandering into centre ville, the timbered homes started to win us over and the marché noël was charming. But then… it kept going. And going. And does it ever end??

At one point I stopped and looked at my husband and said, “I think this thing grows the more you walk.” Honestly, I was astounded at the immense size of the market and the wide variety of vendors that snakes it’s way through the entirety of the center Ville of Colmar. I don’t get turned around easily but I was happily lost in discovery 99% of the day.

Many of us have seen the Insta-worthy decor of this village, as the timbered homes take center stage with snow-stopping holiday decorations. But truly, Colmar goes all out and I am floored with the enormity of the marché and it’s quaint setting.

I also learned a LOT today and will be passing all of my tips on to my Paris Quarterly magazine subscribers as there is definitely a way to do Colmar and not freeze to death like we did. I’ll be headed back tomorrow to test my theory and also visit some more eateries to find all of my readers the best.

Bisous and big hugs from France,

Shannon, Rose and Pearl

🇫🇷 France 🇫🇷, forever.
