Well, I accidentally tested out the waterproof ability of my iPhone 12 today. Read on to find out what happened. 😬😅 Our community here is so engaged, supportive, encouraging, and patient. I know you’ve wanted more stories, and I plan on delivering them again soon. Shortly before leaving Ile de Re on our road trip, I got sick (not Covid, don’t worry). We drove back to our house in Bretagne to find an almost overwhelming amount of projects – and only about 2 1/2 weeks to accomplish them before Jeff returned to the States. I spent those days battling exhaustion, my project list, and the rain. We’ve also had an unseasonably wet start to our summer, and, honestly, who wants to watch a summer video of a beach in pouring down rain?
Fast forward to today, and the sunshine, and summer, seem to have finally arrived. Jeff returned to the States. And I now have 3 acres, 2 French bulldogs, and a business to take of by myself. And I love it all, every minute of it. But it doesn’t come without its challenges. Right now, things are a bit slower for me in all regards, including the amount of content I can share at the moment. My days are a careful balance of taking care of the home, garden, dogs, business, and This French Life.
Today’s outside job was to mow the lawn. At the bottom of the property, I have a trout river that runs through my pasture. A long, gorgeous hedgerow runs up along the road, and on either side is a grassy area. I am busily mowing the lawn next to a high point by the river, and the lawnmower catches on a bit of scrub brush and starts to pull me down into the ditch. I react by yanking back on the machine and overcompensate my step, right off the edge of the embankment. In a flash, the world is topsy turvy, and I’m underwater, the cold biting and shocking all at the same time.
If you would like to finish reading about my little mishap, you can find the rest of the story in the comments below. There are THREE PARTS in total. 🙃 Little snaps of my house and lower gardens at sunset in the slides.
Bisous and big hugs 🤗 from France,
