VIDEO VIRTUAL ROAD TRIP – L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse France

VIRTUAL ROAD TRIP FRANCE! We all loaded up into the car and headed towards a magical little town called L’Isle sur la Sorgue. Imagine this: a calm little river with crystal clear water flowing throughout a tiny French village full of antique stores, flower baskets, riverside cafes, restaurants, and water wheels (many are still working!).

Originally known as « Insula, » the town officially adopted « L’Isle sure la Sorgue » on 18 August 1890, taking the latter part of its name from the river Sorgue. As early as the 12th century, the river served defensively as a moat around ramparts that surrounded the town until 1795.

The river also served as a source of food and industry: fishing and artisan mills for oil, wheat, silk, paper, wool, manufacturing, rugs, and dying; the current Sunday open-air market originated on 9 November 596.

In today’s tory, I share the first part of our magical day with you as we explored this qui an village; After, we hike into Fontaine-de-Vaucluse to discover the source, the headwaters of the Sorgue.

Bisous and big hugs from France,
Shannon
