VIDÉO: The sights and sounds of a French farmer’s market.
LOCATION: SAINT-PIERRE-SUR-DIVES. About 48 minutes from Honfleur.
Since William the Conqueror’s time, this traditional country market has been going in and around a Norman tithe barn said to be the largest in France. The oak beams are held together by 290,000 chestnut pegs. This market is known for its products and its impressive historic surroundings.
We purchased fresh Normandie cheeses, white asparagus, organic bread, homemade jams and sauces, olives, and sausage for grilling. There were many pépinières (nursery garden) vendors selling starts, roses, trees, flowers, and more. On certain days, there are livestock and farm animal auctions.
This village is located on the famous Normandie cider route. I will share videos of our experiences at the cider tasting rooms tomorrow!
Bisous and big hugs from France,
Shannon
🇫🇷 France 🇫🇷, forever.
