Today is a big day as we start the final week of our International Women’s Month celebration. 💃🏼 I had SO much fun with all of you this weekend. Many of you kept on trying to guess who the featured lady was, and it just cracked me up. 🤣 All of you make me laugh so hard, and you’re so darn smart to boot! But only ONE of you guessed who she was!
Jane Vialle was a journalist , resistance fighter and French politician . In fact, she was the only black female senator during the Fourth Republic.
Jane Vialle was born on August 27, 1906. Her mother was Congolese and her father, Michel Vialle, was French.
At the time, Michel was employed by the “Compagnie française du Haut Congo”, created in 1889 by the Tréchot brothers.
But around 1907, Michel Vialle was recruited by another concessionaire company, the Société des Sultanats.
The main purpose of this company was to market ivory and rubber harvested from the domains of the sultans.
Jane Vialle is close to her father and grows up in Bangassou, where the company’s headquarters were located.
Michel does a great job with his work and took a significant part in the expansion of the company.
Now, in October 1912, Michel travels to Paris and Jane Vialle is officially recognized by her father as being his legitimate daughter. She is registered as a French citizen.
