Tour the Christmas spectacle at Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte.
Happy Thanksgiving to those who are celebrating it! To help you kick off the holidays right, I have a brand new YouTube video just for you.
Yesterday, I joined a press trip to @chateauvlv where our group was treated to a most magical day. I live-streamed most of the event and behind-the-scenes footage to my annual subscribers, and everyone had a wonderful time.

Did you know that Vaux le Vicomte is France’s largest privately owned chateau?
Located about an hour from Paris, this 17th-century castle (1658 – 1661) was built for Louis XIV’s superintendent of finances, Nicolas Fouquet. VLV is one of France’s most important private properties, classified as a historical monument since its purchase in July 1875 by Alfred Sommier, who worked there as a patron. To this day, the estate continues to be managed by his descendants. It now represents an annual budget of 8 million euros, employs 75 full-time employees, and transmits the experience of the French Grand Siècle to more than 300,000 visitors each year.
I write about the entire experience in my Winter 2022 edition of the Paris Quarterly, with additional photos and details. On the 400th anniversary of his birth, Molière returns to the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte. The playwright will be at the heart of a renewed program that will immerse visitors in his world. To welcome this illustrious artist of the Grand Siècle, Vaux-le-Vicomte is transformed into a Palace of the Arts. The courtyards, the outbuildings, the castle, and the French garden will welcome visitors in an enchanted world that will take them on a magical journey, with activities for young and old: workshops, shows, treasure hunts, gourmet breaks by the fire, horse-drawn carriage rides, and more.
Enjoy the video, everyone, and happy holidays.
Bisous from France,
Shannon
