In this list, I share a few of my favorite photo op spots and a walking tour where you can hit all of these sites in one big loop.
Did you know?
° The actual name of the tower is “Tour Eiffel” in French.
° Gustave Eiffel built a private apartment in the tower on the 3rd floor.
° During World War II, when Hitler visited Paris, the French cut the Eiffel Tower’s elevator cables to force him to walk to the top.
° The height of the Eiffel Tower varies by about fifteen centimeters depending on the outside temperature.
° The Eiffel Tower is the most visited paying monument in the world.
Best locations to view and take photos of the tower PLUS step by step walking tour itinerary:
STOP 1 - Trocadero. Start the walking tour here to enjoy the gardens and a stunning view across the river with less crowds & fun eateries.
6 minute walk
STOP 2 - Avenue de Camoens. This tiny alley is also a popular spot for local photographers to take clients to.
15 minute walk
STOP 3 - La France Renaissante. Exceptional opportunity to view the tower from the river Seine. Pont de Bir Hakeim is also a stunning bridge built in 1903. Check out the Statue of Liberty before moving on.
26 minute walk (Option: Stop at @sunflower.cafe.paris for a fresh lunch & homebaked treats)
STOP 4 - Champs de Mars. This is the park behind the Eiffel Tower. A lot of people congregate in the gardens immediately behind, but I suggest walking just a little way in, past the fountain. This is also a great picnic spot.
7 minute walk
STOP 5 - Rue de Monttessuy. A popular spot for taking images of stunning Parisian buildings with the Eiffel towering in the background.
Optional: Check out the jaw-drapping landmark 1901 building designed by Jules Lavirotte, with Art Nouveau ceramics & sculptural details just around the corner.
9 minute walk
STOP 6 - Finish at Pont d’Iéna
