There is something I am craving on repeat right now, and I have to share it with you:
𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗽. 🥣 And today, I am sharing a recipe so you can make it at home too!
I don’t know why I waited so long to try this dish. Actually, wait. I lied… I DO know why. It’s because I am not a big fan of onions 🧅 by themselves. Even all the hype couldn’t convert me. But when I finally did have my first “soupe à l’oignon,” I became a die-hard fan.
It’s been cold in Paris the last few days. Sunny, beautiful, but it makes your bones ache when you’re outside too long. And this soup is super hearty and filling. And crazy easy to make! 👏
I hope to come across some old soup bowls at a French flea market someday. It’s on my antiquing list. I don’t want the crocks with the handles but the pretty white ones with the little lip at the top.
𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝗶𝗼 𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗯𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗲! ☝️ I have shared my personal French onion soup “recette” AND a bit of history about this famous French dish.
Ways to make it healthy: Cut back on the bread, or sub for a whole wheat or gluten-free option. You can also scale back on the cheese a bit if you like.
Bisous and big hugs from France,
Shannon
🇫🇷 France 🇫🇷, forever.
