ROAD TRIP DAY EIGHT & NINE: Yesterday, we all load…

ROAD TRIP DAY EIGHT & NINE: Yesterday, we all loaded up into the car and headed towards a magical little town called L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. 🤩Imagine this: a calm little river with crystal clear water flowing throughout a tiny French village full of antique stores, flower baskets, riverside cafés, restaurants, and water wheels (many are still working!). 😍😍

Originally known as “Insula,” the town officially adopted “L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue” on 18 August 1890, taking the latter part of its name from the river Sorgue. As early as the 12th century, the river served defensively as a moat around ramparts that surrounded the town until 1795.

The river also served as a source of food and industry: fishing and artisan mills for oil, wheat, silk, paper, wool manufacturing, rugs, and dyeing. The current Sunday open-air market originated on 9 November 1596.

In today’s Instagram story 👆👆, I share the first part of our magical day with you as we explored this quaint village. After, we hike into Fontaine-de-Vaucluse to discover the source, the headwaters of the Sorgue. Head on up to my story to watch now! 👆👆

Swipe to see a sneak peek of today’s video! As always, you can find my previous stories saved in my Instagram highlights.

Bisous and big hugs 🤗 from France,
Shannon
