My final heures in Honfleur.
Last September, our community joined me on a short road through Normandie as I took a long retour to Paris. When I drove into Honfleur, she took my breath away. For the next twelve hours, this village stole my heart, and I vowed to return.
You see, when my husband and I were house-hunting, this was the only region on our list that we didn’t have a chance to explore in-depth before buying our house in Bretagne. We had to jump at the opportunity offered to us, but the FOMO grew out of control after leaving Honfleur last year.
If you have been following along with me for the past month, you can easily put together a great itinerary based on what I shared with you. Suppose you’d like all of the behind-the-scenes details, the treasures and secrets I found, logistics, itineraries, videos, maps, and more? In that case, I will be publishing my full Honfleur + Calvados regional guide in the coming months.
For now, as I pack my bags and prepare to head home tomorrow, I leave with a head full of fond memories and a heart at peace. With the final piece of the French real estate puzzle accomplished, I can say that my beloved Cotes d’Armor was the best choice for us without a doubt.
Adding this region to your France bucket list is an excellent choice and one that I would highly recommend. To profit from this experience, I would suggest early autumn as the ideal time to avoid the cold, wet weather or the heavy summer tourist season here. Additionally, you’ll have the chance to see the apple orchards at their peak and experience the cider harvest and festivals.
What’s next? I return to Bretagne to oversee the next stage of renovations at our house and teach a communications and marketing class at the University of Rennes. I return to my home in Paris in mid-May. So, join me as we continue to enjoy ma belle France together!
Bisous and big hugs from Honfleur,
Shannon
