Here are a few public holidays (and some extras!) you’ll want to plan for - LATE SPRING & SUMMER 2023

Good morning, everyone! How are you today? The sun is shining, the birds are singing, I’m headed out for a day trip, and going back to my house in Brittany in TWO WEEKS!!! I cannot wait to see the changes while I’ve been gone.

I have already started my summer bucket list. I don’t know about you, but time seems to pass SO quickly these days, and I am doing my best to be present, grateful, enjoy the smallest moments gifted to me, but also take advantage of my good health and mind by planning unique activities for the near future. I don’t want to waste a precious minute of this beautiful French life!

What do you have planned for this weekend? Have you thought about what you want to do this summer? Are you looking forward to anything in particular? Add your daydreams to the comments below!

For those planning a trip to France soon or perhaps are a new resident, here are a few public holidays (and some extras!) you’ll want to plan for. These used to sneak up on me, and I was never prepared!

What should you expect for a French public holiday? Closures and limited hours. Some small business owners will use these extra days off to create a « bridge » holiday and extend their vacation.

Your bigger grocery stores might be closed or on limited hours. Museums too. It’s always best to be prepared, have a plan B, or just relax and have a quiet day. It’s the perfect time of the year for a picnic!

PUBLIC holidays, now through the end of Summer 2023:
Thursday, May 18 - Ascension Day
Sunday, May 28 - Whit Sunday
Monday, May 29 - Whit Monday
Friday, July 14 - 🥳 Fête Nationale (Bastille Day)
Tuesday, August 15 - Assumption Day

OTHER celebrations in France coming up include:
June 4 - Mother’s Day
June 18 - Father’s Day
June 21 - Fete de la Musique

Last, but not least, I am ALMOST done with the Paris Quarterly SUMMER 2023 edition! Please stay tuned for access to that guide in the next couple of days.

Bisous!
