Excerpt from my magazine, the Paris Quarterly, 2022 Spring edition.
“There are several propagation techniques for mimosas, which we adapt according to the species: the marcotte, the seedling, and the graft. We produce a lot of grafted mimosas, i.e. we use rootstocks of Acacia retinodes (mimosa of the four seasons) which tolerates calcareous soil because the majority of Acacia grows on acidic grounds.
This allows them to be planted in other regions and provides other benefits.
This kind of know-how takes time to learn and assimilate and contributes to our expertise. We graft in June and July and wean the mimosas in October and November. From there, we prepare them for the market. It is work that takes time, and we see the final result only months later!” - Julien Cavatore
