About a year before the pandemic arrived in France…

About a year before the pandemic arrived in France, so did I. My story in this country goes back a lot farther than this brief post (link in bio! ☝️), but in February 2019, I landed with one suitcase and my latest acquisition: a profession liberale visa. This special permit allows me to live AND work in France 🇫🇷 full-time. Yet, less than a year later, a virus would rock all of our worlds to the core.

I spent most of 2020 questioning everything I was doing. The world had come to a grinding halt, and as a new immigrant to France, I had to protect my visa. It was imperative to follow through with my promise to create the business and revenue that would ultimately guarantee my right to stay.

I spent endless days during the confinements of 2020, hidden away in the Bretagne countryside, walking the backroads during our allotted government-approved outings. I’d walk Pearl, my French bulldog, in an hour-long circuit and asked myself constantly, “What can I do that uses all of my skills, talents, experience, and knowledge? And apply it through the lens of my new country?”

That soul-searching led me to create This French Life.

I can transport you to my corner of France, wherever that might be at the moment, and inspire or bring joy. Happiness is so important, especially in troubling times. So many of you are now friends, and we talk almost daily! 🤗

We can explore French culture, recipes, go shopping at an antique fair, or visit a local artisan together. Let me transport you. And I share my travel tips so you can experience this incredible country and have the trip of a lifetime.

Or maybe you want to move here! I am here as proof that, with a lot of courage, determination, resources (and paperwork!), you can do it too. 👍

It’s been one year since I started sharing my French life with you. And I can’t wait to spend another year together.

Bisous and big hugs 🤗 from France 🇫🇷 ,
Shannon

🇫🇷 France 🇫🇷, forever.
