A few days ago, I posted a reel of the gendarmes on horseback. I mentioned that I wanted to volunteer at the stables (a military base located in the heart of Paris!), and so many of you encouraged me to go and ask. 🥰

Monday, these two lovely ladies rode past my building, and I stopped them. First, (of course!!!) I asked if I could pet the horses. And, I was quick to explain that I am an experienced rider and owner. They said yes!! 🤩🤩🤩

The horse on the left is seven, the one on the right is five, and it was so fun to cuddle their noses and give scratches to these buddies, right in the heart of Paris!

Next, I gathered up my courage and asked if they accepted volunteers. Unfortunately, the answer is no. And I expected it, being a military base. Plus, these beautiful babies are irreplaceable. I cannot imagine the years of training (and the costs involved) to have a horse capable of this type of work.

While my heart was a bit sad over not shoveling horse 💩 in exchange for nose rubs 🐎, I am thrilled that these women were so generous with their time. It’s a magical moment I won’t soon forget.

Tip a hat and dit “merci” to the next gendarme you see on horseback. They help take care of our belle Paris.

Bisous and big hugs from France,
Shannon

🇫🇷 France 🇫🇷, forever.
